I’ve recently come home from a little trip to Spain where I seen the most awesome Michael Jackson tribute I’ve come across yet.

I’ve no idea who the artist was but Spain’s buildings, tunnels, shutters (almost anywhere with a flat surface or side wall) are littered with this type of graffitti.

It called out to me when I seen it and since I have decided to start writing a blog again, I thought I’d share.

Hope you love it, more to come shortly.

GWAC yeah.

Taken By Trees

I’ve recently come across Taken By Trees, solo project of Victoria Bergsman.

You may recognise her unique voice as the former leadsinger of The Concretes. Victoria, as well as being one of the three founding members, was singer and songwriter for The Concretes for 11 years until deciding to leave the band in 2006.

You will probably also recognise Victoria’s voice from one of the biggest and most popular songs of last year, Peter Bjorn & John’s “Young Folks” (yes, the one with the whistling). Bjorn Yttling helped Victoria to produce the album “Open Field”.

Her album “Open Field”, released 2007 on Rough Trade, her voice is delicate and beautiful and overall it’s a stunning record. She recently released the single “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, a Guns & Roses cover.

I’m kicking myself for missing her at Le Weekend Festival in Sitrling last month.

A 3D Exploration of Picasso’s Guernica

“Guernica” is the title of the painting by Pablo Picasso, depicting the Nazi bombing of Guernica, Spain, in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War, in which roughly 1600 people were killed.

Follow the link below to watch the video by German artist Lena Gieseke. “A 3D Exploration of Picasso’s Guernica  was her thesis at University of Georgia, where she achieved a Master in 3D Computer Animation.

At first, I felt that 3D exploration defeated the whole purpose of a cubist painting, however, after watching it again, I’ve changed my mind. I feel it provides an opportunity to view the painting from a unique perspective, revealing aspects that would normally stay hidden. If you watch it and don’t like the idea of cubism in 3D, then I suggest you check out some cubist sculpture.

kanye West lets off some steam in Bonnaroo Blog post

Ahh, how amusing it is when musicians have a good ole rant…

After arriving on stage two hours late ( he was supposed to play at 2:45am, but came on at 4:25am) at Bonnaroo festival, then being booed and having missiles thrown at him, Kanye West has written a blog politely discussing his distaste at the fans reaction.

He explains that the reason he was so late was because Pearl Jam ended their set an hour late and they couldn’t set up the stage lights in time so instead of having a light show, he was playing as the sun was coming up. He also calls the people at Bonnaroo a bunch of idiots and says he thinks they can’t run a festival properly.

He genuinely does seem a bit upset about it all. Fair enough, he sounds really whiny and all, but you have to respect his passion for what he does…

Here’s a snippet of what Kanye had to say:

” But this Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I’ve ever had in my life. This is the most offended I’ve ever been… this is the maddest I ever will be.  I’m typing so fucking hard I might break my fucking Mac book Air!!!!!!!!”

“Call me any name you want…. arrogant, conceited, narcissistic, racist, metro, fag whatever you can think of….  BUT NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL!   NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL!  THIS SHOWS NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY  TO BE GOOD AT SOMETHING THERE WILL BE PEOPLE THERE TO LIE ABOUT YOU AND BRING YOU DOWN!”

Check out the rest of kanye’s rant here.
