Anyone who’s likely to be near Finsbury Park in London on Sunday 13th July should get themselves over to Rise Festival.

When I heard about Rise 2007 and seen the posters for the event, I noticed that the name of the festival was subtitled with “London United Against Racism,” therefore proclaiming the festivals political message as well as the music. It has always been set on promoting the anti-racism message since the very roots of the festival 7 years ago, the only different being that the festival went by the name of Respect. However, any advertising I’ve seen for Rise 2008 mentions nothing to do with anti-racism and one has to wonder if the lack of this message in this years posters has anything to do with the fact that recently elected Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, wants to eradicate ‘political corectness’?! Well, I have my opinion. But I don’t want to get into my personal political beliefs too much.  

The FREE festival will take place between 12-8:30pm and will be host to a plethora of live acts including CSS, Jimmy Cliff and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings!
